Aeris Corporation:
Companies with new concrete or epoxy coated floors want to protect the surface and prevent damage over time when moving heavy machinery. This is why so many
maintenance departments and riggers have selected Air Casters as the preferred method of transport. In addition to protecting the floor Air Casters allow the
load to be moved or rotated in any direction, thus requiring less time and equipment necessary to complete the job. As shown in the illustration a rigging kit
includes four air casters, four interconnecting hoses, control console with individual pressure regulation and a main air supply connection. Air casters also
called Air Dollies are less than 3 inches thick to allow easy insertion under a machine and have capacities ranging from 4000 to 480,000 pounds per system.
Why do companies want to protect their floors? First is safety. Smooth floors eliminate tripping hazards and if small wheeled carts are used they are easier to
push and less likely to tip over and injure someone. Second it keeps the entire plant looking new, improves worker moral and will provide visiting customers
with a positive impression of a progressive company. This means greater productivity and higher potential for future business.
Aeris Corporation manufactures Air Casters in a variety of diameters ranging from 12 to 60 inches to match the size and weight of the machine to be moved.
Air Casters utilize compliant air film technology and require only 3- 5 pounds of effort per 1000 pounds of weight on a smooth, sealed floor surface. This
means a 40,000 pound machine requires only 120 to 200 pounds of effort to push, easily accomplished by a few workers or a small fork truck. Standard as well
as custom designed systems are available including rigging sets, planks, pallets, roll movers, turntables, and power driven steel transporters.
